New Creation

What is New Creation?
New Creation is an auditioned group selected for the purpose of representing the College in public relations and recruiting program, and to fulfill an ensemble requirement for music specialization students.  Auditions for this group are conducted with a view to discovering students who excel in vocal ability, who may also excel on an instrument, and who possess a well-rounded Christian personality to serve as ambassadors for Christ and the College.  New Creation members must maintain a 2.0 GPA by the end of the fall semester in order to be included in the spring New Creation Tour.  New Creation members must also maintain a high standard of character and integrity to be allowed to join the tour.  Recommendations from faculty and staff are collected prior to the tour.

How do I join New Creation?
Auditions for prospective members of New Creation 2009-2010 is scheduled on Wednesday, August 26,2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The audition will follow the following process:

1.  Applicants must fill out and submit an application form prior to the audition.  Fill out the online application form or print and fax or mail ASAP. To Fax:  Please send the fax to the attention of Dr. Ruth Reyes at (321) 206-2007. To Mail: Please mail it to Florida Christian College, Attn: DR. Ruth Reyes, 1011 Bill Beck Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34744.

2.  Applicants must be prepared to sing a selected song from memory, accompanied by a CD/tape or by an accompanist brought in by the applicant (please NO worship songs).  This part of the audition will include a sight reading portion. You will be assisted by an accompanist to read and sing an excerpt from a choral anthem.  Please do not let your lack of sight reading skills deter you from auditioning.

3.  Audition will include a brief interview.

4.  You will be notified via email of the results of the audition by August 28.

Students who pass the audition must add the course MMU 122 Vocal Ensemble (1 credit), if course is needed to fulfill music specialization requirement, or if course is used as a ministry elective. New Creation meets on Mondays 1:00 – 3:00 pm in BR-2.  Classes/rehearsals begin August 31.
