KISSIMMEE. On Friday May 14th Florida Christian College received volleyball letters of intent from Ashley Griswold (Eustis HS, Florida) and Charlotte Worsfold (Broadfording Christian Academy, MD). They became the first recruits for the Florida Christian College Lady Suns under new Head Coach Jim Butski.

Charlotte Worsfold is a 5-8 middle hitter who was an All

County selection of the

Hagerstown (Maryland) Herald Mail. She helped lead Broadfording to a conference championship and NACA National Division I runner-up finish in 2009. Coach Butski immediately noticed Charlotte's athleticism and her ability to terminate the play. “Charlotte has a powerful swing that allows her to score points swiftly and with authority- she should have an immediate impact at FCC in 2010. Charlotte comes from a school with a tradition of success and excellence and should bring those qualities with her to Florida Christian College”. At Broadfording, Charlotte was also a standout with the basketball team.

Eustis HS senior Ashley Griswold committed to the Lady Suns during a campus visit with her mother. Ashley is a 5-5 setter at both Eustis HS and Eustis Volleyball Club. She is the daughter of Anne Smith and David Griswold. Her father was also her club coach at Eustis Volleyball Club. Coach Butski had watched her play at a tournament in Titusville and was impressed with both her play on court and her attitude off of it. “Ashley's leadership skills were evident amongst her teammates as she set her team to the tournament championship that day. I was equally impressed with the way she handled herself when not playing and am sure that she will bring those same qualities with her to the Lady Suns”. Ashley credits her youth coaches Paula Brown and Tiffany Guido for getting her started in volleyball at a young age.

Charlotte and Ashley join previous signees Shelby Buchanan from Aleto Christian HS (Texas) and Tina Westendorp from Maple Valley HS (Michigan) in the 2010 recruiting class. Florida Christian is coming off an 8-22 season and competes in the southern region of the National Christian Conference Athletic Association. They will host the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee this fall and as hosts will receive an automatic bid to the tournament.
