Suns Sign Two More 2012 RecruitsThe Suns are pleased to announce the commitments of two more players in the 2012 freshman class- Cheyenne Hourigan from Hampton, Florida and Samantha Ferrer from Brandon, Florida. Cheyenne played middle blocker for Northside Christian Academy and was coached there by Glenda Parrish and Alicia Etheridge. She led the team in kills and blocks and was named to the All Conference team. While at Northside Cheyenne also played basketball and softball. When she came to campus for a tryout, Coach Butski was very pleased with her athleticism and ability to terminate the ball. He says “Cheyenne has a natural ability to be successful in athletics and is a top student leader as well. She comes from a wonderful community and family and is a great fit for the mission of Florida Christian College.” Samantha Ferrer led her Brandon HS team in kills in 2011 and was among team leaders in attacks, serving, digs, and service reception. Her high school coach was Amy Watson and she played club volleyball with Performance Volleyball in Tampa. Coach Butski was pleased with many things about Sam- “Sam impresses everyone with her outgoing personality and sweet spirit. Her play on the court speaks for itself, and Sam should be a leader on the court, in the classroom, and within our campus community. She has been playing volleyball a long time and has a very, very high volleyball IQ.” These ladies will join prior signee Bethany Martinelli in the 2012 class and coach Butski anticipates several more players making their commitments in the coming weeks. more information and all the latest news and scores!
