Jim Butski named 2011 South Region
Coach of the Year
“For the first time in school history, a coach at Florida Christian College has been named as the South Region Coach of the Year. Jim Butski, Head Coach of the Suns Volleyball Team, was named NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year by his peers for the 2011 season. After compiling a school record 13 wins and earning the #2 seed in the South Region tournament, the other coaches within the region couldn’t help but notice the new success of the Suns Volleyball Program. One of Jim’s recruits for the 2011 season, Brinda Wallis, was named an NCCAA 1st Team All-American, only the second 1st Team All-American in school history for any sport (the other was Men’s Basketball alumni Kevin Wills). FCC Athletic Director, Bryce Bow, was extremely pleased with the team’s season. “Considering this is only Jim’s second year as a collegiate volleyball coach, I think he’s doing a phenomenal job. And what I hope doesn’t go overlooked is the spiritual component and mission-mindedness of the kids he’s brought in. Not only is he winning, but he’s doing it with solid girls who are here for the right reasons.” The girls will participate in a sand volleyball tournaments around the state this Spring as they prepare for an exciting 2012 season.
