First Week Of Practice Off To A Great StartThe first week of preseason practice is off to a great start for the Women’s Soccer Team. The Lady Suns Soccer team came in on August 1st to begin their preseason training. Before even stepping on the field Coach Johnson took his 16 player roster to Camp Montgomery in Starke, FL for their team retreat. The girls got some bonding time to grow together off the field so that they can begin to trust each other on the field. The challenge course at Camp Montgomery proved to be a great resource to help the girls communicate with each other, work together, and begin to come together as one team. Each session time on the retreat help to encourage the girls to pursue excellence in whatever they do. Coach Johnson said, “I keep telling the lady’s that they are laying the foundation for excellence in women’s soccer here at FCC. Colossians 3:23 tells them that whatever they are doing to work at it with all their hearts as for the Lord and not for anyone else. That is what this team is going to do. Work hard for Christ.” Monday August 6th was the Lady Suns first day on the field. The coaching staff spent most of the day doing assessments on their skills and conditioning. “This is just the beginning; every girl in here knows that they have to improve the next time we assess. No matter where they are in their assessment, everyone can do better next time.“ Coach Johnson stated. As the lady’s of the Women Soccer Team continue to press forward into their preseason we continue to get excited for them to begin their regular season matches. The soccer team’s first home match is Saturday, August 25th at 7pm against Florida College. The soccer team will be playing at Austin-Tindall Regional Park in Kissimmee. We hope to see you there!
