Excitement Builds As The Suns Basketball Season Approaches

As we approach another season here on the campus of Florida Christian College, we are extremely excited about the future of Suns Basketball. The Suns are coming off their best-ever season (21-11) with the core from that team returning. Sophomore point guard Montique Lynch, shooting guard and defensive specialist Chris James, small forward A.J. Williams, sophomore power forward Kenny Martinez, sophomore shooting guard Jose Burgos, senior center Samuel Stephens, junior shooting guard JoJo Wood and Senior power forward Quinton Haugabook all returning. Newcomers are led by red shirt freshmen 6’3 point guard Marquis Jackson, 6-6 center James Strowbridge, 6’7 power forward Kenny Blanc, 6’5 power forward Anthony McGilvaery, and St Leo transfer 6’4 shooting guard David Belizaire. "With the core unit returning and a great recruiting class, the Suns program looks to improve upon what was started last season. Obviously the greatest challenge of all teams is getting everyone on the same page and pursuing the same goals.” Deer said.

The Suns will hold their Orange and Black scrimmage Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. and their alumni scrimmage Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The team hosts Southeastern Univ. Nov. 1 for the regular-season opener.
