Our Athletic Director and Men’s basketball coach Jake Deer has just returned from the mission field in Whiteriver, Arizona.  Jake graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis, Indiana (1999).  He played 3 seasons under Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame Coach Bill Springer.  Jake went on to spend one year at the University of Southern Indiana located in Evansville, Indiana.  In the fall of 2000 Jake began his career here at Florida Christian College.  Jake played 3 seasons and coached 2 seasons for both Men’s and Women’s basketball programs while a student here at the College.  During that time He captured Freshman of the year honors, MVP, and Second Team all region in both 2002 and 2004. 

Jake moved on to coach one season with Pat Milligan at Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida; before moving to the reservation in 2004.  Jake was a part of the Alchesay High School coaching staff serving as an assistant for 2 seasons under head coach Jim Boyd.  Throughout the two years, Alchesay High School had two 20-plus win seasons, finishing 27-4 the final year.  We are excited for Jake’s return here at Florida Christian College.  Jake brings energy, discipline, structure, a love for the college, and, most importantly, the desire to see students succeed here at Florida Christian College.
