In their first season of existence the Suns Baseball program followed up earning their third NCCAA National Player of the Week Award in a row by reaching the #1 ranking in last week’s NCCAA DII National poll- a milestone that no other sport at FCC had previously achieved.

Eric Santamaria (Fr., Miami Christian, FL) became the third NCCAA Baseball Player of the Week in a row after his 8 for 12, with 4 doubles, 6 RBI’s and a save on the mound performance the week of March 26th. He follows Mark Vidal (RS Fr., Daytona State, FL) and Andres Cancio (Fr., Cypress Creek, FL) in a phenomenal trifecta of National Players of the Week for the Suns. FCC Head Coach, Jon Copeland, is proud of the players and their recognition by the NCCAA, “It is the result of a lot of hard work on the practice field, in the weight room and in team meetings”, he stated. However, as he remarked previously that, while he is glad for the first #1 ranking in FCC history and the recognition for the institution, the Suns Baseball program is only concerned with the final NCCAA ranking, the only one that really matters.

This week: The Suns host Clearwater Christian College in a 3-game series at the Astros Complex. Friday is a single game at 3pm and Saturday is a DH that begins at 12pm.
