Suns Pick Up First Road Win With Dramatic Comeback

The #9 ranked FCC Suns Baseball program earned the first road victory for the first-year program in the final game of a 3-game series at Ave Maria University; and they did it in exciting fashion. Trailing 6-3 in their next to last at-bat the Suns erupted for a 5-run rally and then held on to win a nail-biter, 8-7. Freshman, Brent Hodge, picked up the first save in FCC history as he struck out the final batter with the winning run in scoring position. Junior, Erick Figueroa and sophomore, Mark Vidal led the Suns hit parade as they both enjoyed a remarkable series at the plate. Junior, Carlos Guzman, also had a notable weekend with the first home run in FCC history.

Figueroa picks up Player of the Week recognition: Junior, Erick Figueroa, from Florida State-Jacksonville, earned the Suns POW award this week with a fine performance at the plate that included 4 extra base hits.

This week: The Suns host Southeastern this Tuesday, 2/7 at 3pm, and Eckerd this Saturday, 2/11 at 12pm for two doubleheaders at Tinker Field.
