Head Coach

Now in his second season at the helm of the Lady Suns, Coach Butski is looking forward to the continued development of the volleyball program. In 2010, the Suns finished in a third place tie at the NCCAA South region and had one player named to the all-region team. The team finished 0-4 at the 2010 NCCAA national tournament.

Prior to his arrival at Florida Christian, Coach Butski was a Florida high school and club coach, in addition to working with the USAV Florida High Performance program. As varsity Head Coach at Indian Rocks Christian School in Largo, Florida, he led the program to its first ever winning season in 2001. From 2003-2009 Coach Butski was an assistant at Martin County high school in Stuart, Florida. During this time, the MCHS squad qualified for state regionals and achieved a FSWA/MaxPreps top ten ranking every season. In 2009 Martin County was the Florida 5A State Champion with a 31-1 record and received a final national ranking of #9 from both maxpreps.com and prepvolleyball.com. In his most recent club season with Orlando Volleyball Academy, Coach Butski’s squad finished as National Runner-Up in the 16-Club division at the AAU National Championships in Orlando. His teams have had two prior Top 10 national tournament finishes.

Before coaching at FCC, Coach Butski was also a high school science teacher in Stuart, Florida. From 2005-2008, he was the Missions Director for Going the Distance Adventure Ministry in Costa Rica. In his spare time, Coach Butski likes to play beach and indoor volleyball, fish, paint, camp, and mountain bike.

Assistant Coach

A 2001 Florida Christian College graduate, Katie has a long history with the school.  While attending Florida Christian College she played Volleyball, Basketball and Recreational Co-ed Softball.  Upon graduation, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Shortly after graduation she began teaching in the local elementary school, various grade levels and PE.  She earned her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Stetson University in 2007 and currently works Gateway High School; as a 9th-12th grade School Counselor. 

In 2003, she began coaching volleyball at Gateway and since has coached Track and Field, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Weight Lifting, and was also the Head Coach at Florida Christian College for one season. While at Gateway, the volleyball program has earned her multiple OBC Championships, District Champs, and Regional Finalists.

In relation to volleyball, she believes that God has given her the gift of teaching fundamentals of the game, commitment and passion of the sport. It is important to her to be a role model on and off the court. She expects 100% on the court and positive energy. She takes a humorous approach to life with a serious commitment to never settle for less than your best. She has some great stories about Florida Christian College, if you ever would like to know…
