In general, there are four kinds of Pastor Care support services of which you should be aware.
Clinical counseling is available through board certified Christian Psychologists specializing in the needs and challenges of Christian leaders: missionaries, pastors, etc. These support organizations are well-suited for crisis counseling and serious emotional issues. They typically require traveling to the counseling facility and spending several days at that location.
Coaching services are provided by a number of ministry organizations. Their support is often over the phone or though group meetings. Some will have a team member visit you personally. This type of support is relatively inexpensive or free. These groups or individuals will refer contacts to clinical counselors if necessary.
Retreat centers or sites are available across the United States. Some provide the option for coaching or professional counseling. Most provide an inexpensive place for church leaders to get away for a few days for personal reflection and renewal.
Finally, there are a number of web-based Pastor Care service providers. These typically offer printed resources (including article and devotions), discussion forums, blogs and links to additions support providers.
