What is a New Life Team?

It is a group of students committed to Christ and to each other for a ministry through the church to the world. They come from a variety of backgrounds and interests.

Why does the college organized the team?

Florida Christian College counts it a privilege to serve, the college trains the New Life team that travel for the college from January through August each year.

The purpose of the ministry is as follows:

First, they are organized and trained to serve God. They do this by assisting in the church programs around the state of Florida and beyond.
Second, they represent a desire to serve the churches which support the school and its mission.
Third, they encourage others to pursue a Christ-centered education by attending Florida Christian College.
Fourth, they are provided with the opportunity to develop their personal lives and leadership skills. Their travel offers a chance to combine classroom learning with hands-on experience.

How can I utilize a New Life Team?

Each week is different. Sometimes we're involved for an entire weekend in a retreat or special emphasis. Often we'll be used in a two-day program involving teaching, activities with the youth groups, preaching, and special programs. Occasionally the team represents the college for a mission emphasis weekend, regional or national convention, or at some type of banquet.

New Life is a camp team which (4-6 members) uses a combination of drama and/or music in their presentations. The drama selections are usually 4-7 minutes in length and deal with various topics. These can be used in combinations to create a whole service or they can be incorporated into various portions of a service. The sketches often involve humor to allow us to laugh at ourselves while dealing with Truth. The music selections usually include familiar hymns and praise songs, plus an assortment of today's leading Christian songwriters.

How are the Students Chosen for this team?

Students from all areas of the college audition in December and are chosen in January to begin training and travel. The selections are made by a large team of faculty and administration. Each student is considered for their potential development as their current ability. Each one is required to be a full-time student and keep no less than a 2.5 grade point average.
