Brian Smith, Ph.D.
Vice President of Academics

The Vice President of Academics serves as the Chief Academic Officer, responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and assuring the quality of all academic programs, in all delivery systems, of the College and their overall fulfillment of the institutional mission. The VPA provides leadership in recruiting and retaining highly qualified faculty; developing, maintaining, implementing, and enforcing academic policy; and in maintaining and improving the College’s Institutional Effectiveness program.
Students will likely interact with Dr. Smith, also Assistant Professor of Theology, in the classroom, and when they need to discuss classroom matters beyond the purview of the professor and matters of academic policy. He’s willing to interact on several other topics if the appropriate cuisine is supplied by the student.

Diane Adams, B.A.
Registrar
Diane oversees the creation of class schedules, the College Catalog, academic forms, the Academic Advisement Program, the Academic Assistance Program, transfer of credit, and the Academic Calendar. She also oversees all student records, academic appeals, and many activities related to graduation. In addition, she is the advisor for all LEAD students and does other general advisement.

Stephanie Evans
Assistant Registrar
Stephanie works closely with the Registrar, and can answer most questions regarding schedules, advisement, registration, transfer of credit, absences, or other academic related topics. Come see Stephanie if you would like a Grad Workup, official transcript, or any type of academic form (appeals, petitions, requests, degree change/declaration, etc). Stephanie is also the advisor for undeclared students.

Cathleen Cottrell, B.A.
Executive Assistant to the VP of Academics
Cathy’s primary role is the Executive Assistant to Brian Smith, Vice President of Academics. Please contact Cathy if you need to schedule time on Brian’s calendar. Additionally, she’s available to assist students with registration matters and transcripts in the Registrar’s office.

Tina Runnels
Faculty Assistant
Tina is responsible for helping Ministry Division Professors prepare for classes, the input of attendance and grades into the online grade book (Sonis), and scheduling student appointments for Professors.

Joe Harvey, D.Min.
Director of Ministry Internships & Student Success
Joe leads the Student Success Center, which provides resources and services to help FCC students acheive their academic goals. He joined the academic staff in the summer of 2011. Students will want to visit his office, located in the library building, for assistance with writing and presentation assignments or to arrange peer tutoring.
Dr. Harvey also serves as an Assistant Professor of Ministry. His past experience includes more than 15 years in church staff ministry--serving in the areas of Spiritual Development and Administration.

Garrett Thompson, M.A.
Assistant Director of Student Success
Garrett works closely with Dr. Joe Harvey in the Student Success Center. Garrett joined the SSC in October 2012 and is committed to helping students succeed at FCC. Come see Garrett if you need academic related assistance, such as writing papers, creating a personal academic schedule, or just talking through issues that you are struggling with.
Garrett also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Bible and teaches in both the traditional and LEAD programs.

Bruce Dusterhoft, B.S.
Director of Institutional Research
Bruce’s focus is helping faculty and staff assess the effectiveness of their academic programs or departments. These assessments are accomplished via many different instruments including surveys and data analysis.
