PART 1B: PREPARATION

MIN 392
or
MCO 392

The internship process continues with a 1 credit-hour course taken during the second semester of your junior year. The purpose of this course is to continue the development of your ministry portfolio and guide you through the process of designing and contracting your upcoming internship. During the course, you will refine your ministry portfolio by adding (1) four detailed sermon outlines or lesson plans and (2) a slideware presentation. You'll continue reading about creating an excellent internship experience (i.e., working with a mentor) and developing your interview skills. You'll also review time managment and budgeting issues that will be important to the timely and accurate completion of your internship. Finally, you'll meet with your faculty advisor and prospective internship supervisor and create a learning contract. The learning contract specifies what your internship experience will include in terms of goals, activities. assessments and accommodations.

This is a pass or fail course; no grade will be assigned. The course must be completed before continuing on to Internship Part 2--the actual field experience. Click here is download a copy of the current course syllabus.
