Associate Professor of Music

Ruth T. Reyes, originally from Manila, the Philippines, began teaching at Florida Christian College in 1996. She studied in the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School in New York City, received a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Arts, both in piano performance, from Queens College of New York, and is completing the dissertation for a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.

Mrs. Reyes currently is co-director of New Creation, a vocal and instrumental ensemble that presents concert style music as well as Christian contemporary music, drama, and multimedia presentations. She teaches in areas of music theory, music history, conducting, piano, and music and worship. She is program director of the music ministry and music education specializations. Ruth Reyes established the Community Music School (CMS) of Florida Christian College in 1999.

Ruth Reyes has been married for 28 years to Eli Reyes, a minister of worship and creative arts. They have two grown daughters. Mrs. Reyes also speaks Spanish and Tagalog, enjoys traveling, reading, baking, spending time with her family, watching 24 (the TV show), and drinking Starbucks decaf breve mochas.
