ESOL Requirements

FCC has one methods course entitled “Methods of ESOL” and is currently in the midst of developing a second ESOL course called “Second Language Acquisition”. Students in FCC’s elementary program must take both courses in order to receive the ESOL endorsement on their teaching certificate.

FCC now incorporates the 25 ESOL standards and the 11 Competencies and Skills throughout the methods courses. Students have ample opportunity in each methods course to show their mastery of the ESOL standards and the competencies and skills. Students must complete each ESOL assignment with a grade of 75% or higher in order to be able to place it in their professional portfolio.

Please see the FCC ESOL Endorsement Infusion Plan for complete information about ESOL Requirements. These new policies will affect students under the 2007-2008 catalog and all future catalog dates. In the future, the FCC ESOL Endorsement Infusion Plan will be posted for students to review
